Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Minister Andrew Stephenson has hailed bilateral relations between the UK and Kenya, which he said would continue to flourish based on partnership and mutual prosperity. Mr Stephenson, Minister for Africa and DFID, spoke when Kenya's High Commissioner to the Court of St James, Manoah Esipisu, called on him at the FCO in London. A wide range of issues, including trade, investment, tourism, and security were some of the areas discussed when the Minister and the Kenyan diplomat met. More than 220 British companies worth more than £3 billion operate in Kenya, ranging from East African Breweries parent, Diageo, to oil and gas company, Tullow Oil.

He also called on the UK to support Kenya's bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council as well as continued membership of category "C"of the International Martime Organization. Kenya's High Commissioner thanked the UK for their support for the African Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), which has strongly helped in degrading of Al Shabaab. Mr Stephenson thanked Kenya for its role in seeking to secure peace in the larger East Africa and Horn of African regions, including in South Sudan and the Republic of Sudan.
