The Kenya High Commission, London, will host the inaugural Kenya Diplomatic Golf Tournament on Friday 29 July 2022 at The Shire course in North London.

The tournament, title sponsored by Safaricom via Mpesa, will be held at the only course in the UK designed by golf icon Seve Ballesteros. Seve Ballesteros is no stranger to Kenya, but a friend. He was the winner of the Kenya Open Golf Tournament in 1978. This one-day golf tournament will bring more than 70 international golfers together to explore the fairways, greens, bunkers and rough of this extraordinary course.

Participants from High Commissions and Embassies, international organizations and governments will tee off with members of the Kenyan and international business communities and other friends of Kenya from the United Kingdom and across the globe.

The Tournament is designed to highlight the profile of Kenyan Tourism in the United Kingdom and Europe, while drawing attention to the critical opportunity Kenya gives in convening and providing support for important charitable causes, including education.

Kenya's High Commissioner to the UK, Amb.  Manoah Esipisu, says, “This is a great opportunity for our country to showcase who we are as a People, the opportunities on the path of prosperity, the diversity we cherish and an opportunity for networking with strategic business partners.

"This inaugural golf tournament is the beginning of what I believe will be a legacy of strengthening diplomatic ties through this important sport across countries, building bridges in the public and private sectors and giving back to our communities.”

"After the presence of Kenyans at the Wimbledon and The Open Golf tournament in St Andrews, our Mission's event is well timed at the start of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and will continue to focus us on sport as a key pillar in bringing our country together," Amb. Esipisu added.

The tournament is title sponsored by tech group Safaricom via Mpesa, as well as national carrier Kenya Airways, remittances specialists Nala and TapTapSend and the Naserian Foundation with Media Farm Studios. For more information, please visit the golf website: https://golf.kenyahighcom.org.uk
