The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) a Public Health Emergency of international concern in January 2020.
In response to this unprecedented situation, this is a message to all Kenyan students in the various learning institutions in the United Kingdom (UK).

  1. We understand that this is a very stressful, uncertain and anxious moment for most students. Some of you would like to leave the UK and return home, and in some cases, your universities and sponsors have recommended that you do so. Some of you would like to remain in the UK while monitoring the situation. Take decisions while taking into consideration your own situation and the guidance available to you from the UK government. We are counting on you to make the best decision in the prevailing circumstances in consultation with your families and your sponsors where applicable.
  2. Various jurisdictions have put travel restrictions including self-isolation and quarantine measures on arrival. Please read these and acquaint yourselves before making any travel plans.
  3. The health, welfare and safety of Kenyans living in the United Kingdom remain a top priority for the Mission and the Government of the Republic of Kenya.
  4. Airlines have severely reduced flights on many destinations. We urge you to closely monitor as this is an evolving situation.
  5. In the meantime, we would like to emphasize that all students adhere to the advisories being provided for by the various universities and sponsors. Check your school websites and ask for clarification if need be. The High Commission will be able to respond to any pertinent questions as they arise.
  6. It is also important to note that all physical consular appointments have been suspended as from Tuesday, 17th March 2020. However, the same will now be provided online through www.kenyahighcom.org.uk. In case of any emergencies, feel free to get in touch with us through the email immigration@kenyahighcom.org.uk
  7. The Mission shall advice when normal office operations will resume.
