A child born outside of Kenya to an Kenyan citizen parent(s) is eligible for Kenyan citizenship.

To enable us serve you better, It is imperative that you book an appointment when submitting your applications for all Consular Services

You will need to apply for your Passport on the E-citizen platform before booking an appointment for processing at the High Commission. (www.ecitizen.go.ke)

Minors must be accompanied by a parent.

Passport applications without complete requirements will not be processed. Please ensure all the requirements are met.

You must bring your original Kenyan Birth Certificate, parent's Identity Card and Passport that is being replaced. Copies will not suffice.

Please ensure you follow the order of documents as outlined below.

The waiting period is approximately 6 weeks.

Applications made in person are eliglible for Debit card payments.

Passport Requirements for a minor (Below 18 years)

Two printouts of completed form and two corresponding receipts (Available on E-Citizen)

Original and two copies of Birth Certificate

Original Kenya National ID card of the parent presenting the child and application and two copies Kenyan IDs from both parents.

Two copies of Parents’ passports (both parents)

Two copies of United Kingdom’s Residence Permit/Visa of child and parents’

Two copies of completed Parental Consent form, completed by father or mother (Click to download)

Two copies of the Father’s / Mother’s Kenyan Birth certificate (both Sides)

Applications must be recommended  by a Kenyan citizen, who should provide two copies of his/her passport or ID card.

For postal applications include a pre-paid self-addressed return courier envelope (it should have a tracking number).

Additional documentary proof of Kenya citizenship may be required if necessary.
Order of Documents
In order for your appointment to go as smoothly as possible, please make sure that your documents are arranged in the following order.

Application form & photos clipped to the top left hand

Invoice 2

Recommender’s ID or Passport

Parental Consent form

Copy of Kenyan Birth Certificate & Original

Copies of both Parents Documents (IDs/Passports)

Copy of Residence Card/Visa or certificate of Naturalization for Dual Citizens & Foreign Passport

Copy of Certificate of registration (For Citizens by registration)

Copy of passport (If replacement)
