The Kenya High Commission London has received more than 800 applications since the processing of ePassports was launched in mid- August, data shows.

The Mission received 826 passport applications, of which 599 have been successfully processed and have been issued to clients, data available on Dec 1 showed.

Another 227 passports are in the processing phase before they can be printed by the State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services in Nairobi.

The Kenya High Commission, London acknowledged that applicants had on occasion had difficulties with customer care on the eCitizen platform, which they were trying to resolve.  

Applications for passports are done via the eCitizen portal, which is managed in Nairobi; Embassies and High Commissions do not have direct control of the eCitizen portal.
