Emergency Travel Certificate
An Emergency Travel Certificate is a one-way travel document issued to citizens of Kenya to enable them travel to Kenya in lieu of a Kenya passport.

To enable us serve you better, It is imperative that you book an appointment when submitting your applications for all Consular Services

It is recommended that you apply for your emergency travel document not earlier than two weeks to your travel date.

An applicant needs to be sure which airline and routing they will use before submitting an application.

Persons who hold other nationality passports (Dual Nationals) are not eligible for emergency travel certificates

Requirements in the case of a lost or damaged passport

Duly filled Application form (Click to download)

Police Report on the loss of passport.

A Sworn Affidavit done before a Commissioner of Oaths explaining the circumstances under which the passport got lost or mutilated.

Copy of lost passport or original of any previously held.

The damaged passport (and a copy) for those replacing a mutilated one.

Original Kenya National ID card and a copy of Kenyan ID.

Copy of certificate of birth (showing names of parents).

Copies of fathers and mothers Kenya ID.

Copy of Certificate of Registration if Kenyan by registration.

Copy of United Kingdom’s Residence Permit/Visa.

Two passport- sized photographs 45mm x 35mm (UK Standard Size).

If applying by post, please include a pre-paid self-addressed special delivery return courier envelope (it should have a tracking number and sufficient postage stamps).

Additional documentary for proof of Kenya citizenship may be required if necessary.
Requirements in the case of an expired passport

Original and a copy (Bio Data Page) of the lost passport.

Original Kenya National ID card and a copy of Kenyan ID.

Copy of Kenyan Birth Certificate.

Copy of Certificate of Registration if Kenyan by registration

Copy of United Kingdom’s Residence Permit/Visa

Two passport size photographs 45mm x 35mm (UK Standard Size).

If applying by post, please include a pre-paid self-addressed return special delivery envelope (it should have a tracking number).

Additional documentary for proof of Kenya citizenship may be required if necessary.
Requirements in the case of a minor (under 18) born in the United Kingdom

Original Kenya National ID card of the parent presenting the child and application and two copies Kenyan IDs.(both parents)

Copy of both Parents’ passports

Copy of United Kingdom’s Residence Permit/Visa of child and parents’

Copy of completed Parental Consent form, completed by father or mother (Click to download)

Copy of the Father’s or Mother’s Kenyan Birth certificate

Notes for photographs

Photographs must be clear, with no blurring or dark hue

All facial features should be clearly outlined

The photograph must show a full face and both ears showing

Weaves and hair should not cover the forehead or face

The photograph must be taken against a white background

There must be no shadows in the background

No spectacles may be worn

The subject must not smile or laugh

The size of the face should be roughly 2.5 x 2 inches

The subject must be decent (e.g no strapless tops)
