Team Kenya-the Defending Champions Arrive in London for the 2017 IAAF Championships

The Kenya team, which will be participating in the 2017 IAAF Championships, was today accorded an outstanding welcoming reception in London- United Kingdom. The dinner, in honor of the defending champions, was organized by Mrs. Janet Wainaina,  President, and Founder of  Face of Kenya  International in collaboration with Athletics Kenya and the Office of the Governor of Kericho County. It was graced by H.E. Prof. Paul Chepkwony, Governor of Kericho County, who is also the Chairperson of the Committee of Sports, Youth, and Gender in the Council of Governors,  Rt. Gen. Jackson Tanui, President of Athletics Kenya, Mrs. Grace Cerere, the Ag. Deputy Head of Mission at the Kenya High Commission, Mr. Paul Tergat, President Elect NOCK-Kenya, Cllr Elizabeth Kangethe, Dr. Moses Langat, Mr. Jack Waiyaki, among others.

During the evening reception, speakers thanked team Kenya for their patriotism and reiterated that the sportsmen are Kenya’s frontline ambassadors who provide a unique way of promoting the Country as a favoured destination of choice both for tourism and investment. The athletes present were encouraged to fly the Kenyan flag high and received best wishes from all participants.

The team is in the United Kingdom to participate in the 2017 IAAF World Championships that will commence tomorrow, 4th August 2017 at Olympic Stadium in East London. The Kenyan Diaspora and friends of Kenya have been called upon to come out in large numbers in order to support the Kenyan Team, which is also the defending champion. On 6th August supporters will converge at Tower Hill (10.00am) to support Kenya’s Men and Women marathoners.
