On 25th May 2017, the new International Coffee Organization Executive Director, Mr. Jose Dauster Sette from Brazil paid a courtesy call on the High Commissioner. The objective of the visit was to exchange views on potential areas of collaboration between the Government of Kenya and the International Coffee Organization. The Executive Director noted that Kenyan Coffee had a good reputation for quality, however, he stressed the need for the Government to explore ways of adding value to coffee including branding.
The High Commissioner congratulated Mr. Jose Dauster Sette for his election as the new Executive Director of the International Coffee Organization. He noted that Coffee was an important cash crop in Kenya and that the Government was keen to diversify and add value given that the product is currently exported in bulk. The High Commissioner underscored the readiness of the Government to work closely with the International Coffee Organization in increasing coffee production in the country as well as adding value and diversification.
