Courtesy Call: Mr. Akbar Khan, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Secretary-General

On 11th December 2017 the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Secretary General Mr. Akbar Khan, paid a courtesy call to the High Commissioner H.E. Lazarus Amayo.  The meeting discussed various issues including hosting of Kenyan Parliamentary delegations for benchmarking in both the House of Lords and House of Commons.

The following functions proposed for 2018 in Kenya were discussed:

  1. Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Post-Election Seminar to be held towards the end of January 2018 or early February 2018.
  2. International Professional Development Programme for Parliamentary Staff from 19th to 23rd March 2018 to be held in Nairobi.  This training will be delivered by Commonwealth Parliamentary Association in collaboration with McGill University in Canada and the Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training (CPST) in Nairobi.  This is aimed at giving the Parliamentary Staff better understanding of their roles and responsibilities of Parliaments worldwide and greater insights into their own Parliaments. Regions expected to attend are Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and North America and is open to all Commonwealth countries.
